Parents play an integral part in the development of the college.
Wyndham College Parents & Citizen Association (Friends of Wyndham) aims to provide a forum to promote communication and co-operation between the school and its community and to assist in providing additional resources through fundraising activities.
Parents have historically had a large role in supporting the college. Some of their acheivements have included designing our school uniform & logo and redecorating the Norta Norta classroom.
Friends of Wyndham is well established and meets on the Tuesday of the 5th week of each school term. They also meet regularly with the Principal, Deputy Principals, and staff to receive information, discuss issues, contribute ideas, give feedback and determine future directions.
A uniform committee consisting of dedicated parents also meets once a week at the College to promote and sell the uniform. Students have responded to the smart modern designs by wearing the uniform with pride and enthusiasm. Your children will benefit directly by your involvement in their school life.
Functions of the "Friends of Wyndham College" P&C are:
- Host regular meetings to provide a friendly, open forum to welcome parents to the school and to allow the community to discuss matters of a general nature relating to the school.
- Plan and implement fundraising activities throughout the year as discussed at regular P&C meetings
- Operate a school uniform shop to provide parents with the opportunity to purchase affordable school uniforms.
- To support the school staff and students in enhancing an attractive, functional and sustainable environment in the school buildings and surrounds.
Please contact the school if you would like to become involved with "Friends of Wyndham".
If your child is being prescribed medication that needs to be taken during the day, please inform us so that arrangements can be made for the medication to be administered. Please read the important information about prescribed medications at school.
If your child has been diagnosed with an allergy or allergies, it is important that you tell the school as soon as you become aware of it, or if your child's allergy changes. If your child is diagnosed at risk of an anaphylactic reaction an individual health care plan is developed that includes strategies to minimise the risk of a severe allergic reaction.
Managing complex health needs
An individual health care plan is developed for each student with complex health needs. The plan supports students with severe asthma, type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis and those at risk of an emergency or requiring the administration of specific health care procedures.
There are many infectious diseases that affect children and young people. Schools and parents should contact their local health network for advice regarding infectious diseases.
We have a range of educational options to support students with special learning needs which require additional support.
Every student is entitled to attend a NSW public school. If our school is your local school and your first preference, we suggest you talk to our principal to discuss your son’s or daughter’s needs and options.
Following your discussion, their learning needs will be assessed so that decisions can be made about whether they would be best suited to learning:
- In a regular class with additional support, or
- In a special class in a regular or special school.
You will be involved in any decision about the type of support.
After enrolment we will work with you and your son or daughter to continually review their learning needs at each stage of their education.
Enrolling at Wyndham College
Starting at a new senior college is a big change for students and their families. If you are thinking about enrolment, we can help with your son’s or daughter’s transition to our school. Please contact the school to make an appointment to discuss.
You might like to use our school locator to research regular and special schools which have specialist classes. It is important to be aware that placement outside of our school will need to be done with the assistance of our regional team.
Already at Wyndham College
